Food Teenagers Like to Eat: Fried Rice 8/10



I acknowledge ALL boys may not love the same foods as mine – but there is a good chance, right? So I am going to share with you the recipes that always bring an, “Awww. Nice.” or an, “OK. Cool.” response. I promise not to print anything that gets a, “Yuuuck. Not again.”

You will need:

1-2 Tablespoons low flavoured oil, which I don’t own so I used olive oil. But I like the principle of low flavoured.

6 sliced Lap Cheong (sweet Chinese pork sausages)

4 slices of short cut bacon, chopped

1 red capsicum, chopped

1 small cup of frozen peas

1 small cup of tinned corn, drained

3 cups of cold ‘yesterday’s’ rice

3 spring onions (scallions), sliced

6 drops of sesame oil

4-5-6 (to taste) glugs of gluten free soy sauce

Heat oil in large frying pan and add the Lap Cheong and bacon. Fry for just a couple of minutes then add the red capsicum. When the capsicum becomes glossy and begins to soften a little add the peas, corn, spring onions and the cold rice. Mix everything together really well and cook until warmed through. Add the sesame oil and the gluten free soy sauce and continue to combine and heat through. Serve when steaming hot. Dan gives this dish 8/10. Demitri was out when I served the food so I put a bowl aside for him but I didn’t end up getting a rating from him because Dan sneak-ate it.
